About Us

About Michigan Center Schools

Where are we? Located just a couple of miles east of Jackson in the heart of Southern Lower Michigan with three large cities just an hour away, Michigan Center has long proven to be a district that has been committed to excellence in education as well as efficient management of resources to ensure long term stability.

We currently work with over 1,400 students in our K-12 program that is spread across three separate buildings. Arnold Elementary is our K-2 building with just over 330 students. Keicher Elementary houses our 3-6 students with just over 440 students. The Michigan Center Jr./Sr. High School has grades 7-12 with over 640 students. Each of our campuses feature a full wireless environment with a 1:2 technology device ratio at our elementary buildings and a Bring Your Own Device Philosophy at the Jr./Sr. High School.

Nurtured Heart: Michigan Center School District, as far as we know, is the only district in the country with a full district wide implementation of the Nurtured Heart Approach. We are also proud to offer a K-12 Music and Physical Education Program available to all of our students. Opportunities to work in the skilled trades areas are also available through our collaboration with the Jackson County Intermediate School District at the Jackson Area Career Center.

Athletics: We have a full offering of athletic opportunities as well for students in grades 7-12. These sports are supported by quality youth leagues that help to prepare our student athletes in the younger grades. We have had great success in athletics traditionally, and especially in recent years with many Cascade Conference Championships along with a number of district, regional and state championships.

As a district, we value the relationships we have with our parents and community members who are very supportive and key contributors to the overall education provided at Michigan Center School District.

Goals: Our Board of Education is committed to maintaining the highest quality of education and service to our students, parents and community members. We annually decide on specific goals for each year within these general areas:

  • Goal l: Student Growth in the Core Academic Areas
  • Goal 2: Foster a Positive and Collaborative Relationship with the District’s Parents and Community Members
  • Goal 3: Provide a Learning Environment Consistent with the 21st Century in Regards to Classroom Instruction and Technology
  • Goal 4: Demonstrate Fiscal Responsibility

Our Vision:

Michigan Center School District - the cutting edge leader in educational advancement empowers all students for life-long success in a changing world.

Our Mission:
