Michigan Center Schools (MCS) will receive sealed bid proposals from qualified contractors for the
2026 HVAC UPGRADES – Jr/Sr HIGH SCHOOL, NW WING project. Work involves the removal
of existing steam heating units and the installation of hydronic heating and dx cooling equipment,
supporting electrical systems, DDC temperature control system and supporting building trades work. The
Owner has pre-purchased the heating and cooling equipment. One prime contractor will be awarded for
the entire project.
The project scope is contained to the 1st and 2nd floor in the North West Wing, and includes, but is not
limited to, unit ventilators, variable refrigerant flow fan coil units, cabinet unit heaters, and fin tube.
Additionally, the project includes installation of new insulated heating hot water piping, insulated
refrigerant piping throughout the building, and auxiliary boiler room equipment. The project will affect
approximately 20 classrooms, 5 office spaces, and the first and second floor hallways.
This project is subject to prevailing wage.
MANDATORY PRE-BID WALKTHRU MONDAY, AUGUST 18, 2025, AT 10:00AM. Bidders will
meet at the main entrance of the Jr/Sr High School, 400 S State St, Michigan Center, MI, 49254.
Bid drawings and specifications will be available on or about Wednesday July 30, and can be

All bid proposals shall be submitted on the bid proposal forms provided in the specification book and
completed in accordance with the bid proposal instructions. All bidders shall provide signed and notarized forms as found in the specification booklet:
1. Affidavit disclosing any familial relationship that exists between the Bidder or any employee of
the bidder and any member of the Board of Education of the MCS or the superintendent of the
MCS in accordance with MCL 380.1267.
2. Affidavit of compliance for the Iran Economic Sanctions Act certifying the contractor does and
will comply with MCL 129.3312.
3. Statement of Conflict of Interest certifying the Bidder does and will comply with MCL 15.322
4. Statement that bidder is not a Suspended or Debarred Vendor in the State of Michigan
5. A Michigan based business preference of the lesser value of 5% or $10,000 will apply in
determining awards.
Bid proposals may be mailed or delivered to Mr. Brady Cook, Superintendent, Michigan Center
Schools, 400 S. State St., Michigan Center, Michigan 49254. Proposals must be received prior to
10AM SEPTEMBER 8, 2025, at which time Proposals will be opened publicly in the Conference Room
and read aloud. All bids received after the bid receipt deadline will be returned unopened. Facsimile
or electronic submission of bids will not be accepted. Incomplete bids will not be read. All bids will
be evaluated after the bid opening. The Project will be awarded on or about October, 2025.
A Bid Security in the amount of five percent (5%) of Base Bids shall accompany each proposal. The Bid
Security may be in the form of a Bid Bond, Cashier’s Check, or Money Order. Bids may not be
withdrawn for a period of thirty (30) days after the bid date. Additional bond requirements are listed in
the bid specifications.
Substantial completion from all trades’ work shall be on or about August 7, 2026.
The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all proposals, accept a bid other than the low bid, and to
waive informalities, irregularities and/or errors in the bid proposals which they feel to be in their own best
interest.
