JCEC
  • Jackson County Early College is a little-to-no-cost option for families. Costs vary depending upon a variety of factors. Speak to your high school counselor for costs that you may incur. Tuition and class fees have been reduced and cost less than a traditional four-year university or college. Taking these courses at JC cansave a family significantly.
  • Students may begin, with counselor approval, taking college courses in ninth grade.

  • Students take the Freshman Year Seminar as the first course. Students explore careers, learn how to navigate a college class, and work closely with the JCEC team to be successful in future, more challenging courses.
  • Students are required to check in with either a member of the JCEC team and their counselors frequently— and most especially if an issue arises.
  • College & Career Readiness activities are a requirement.
  • The JCEC team, which includes Jackson College navigators and ISD staff, have regularly scheduled hours in the high schools to provide support.
  • This program is intended to provide support and transition for high school students moving from high school to college.
